Maui shielding his eyes from the sun after he snared it with his net
wrapped around him blowing in the wind.
The legend is: Maui snared the sun at Haleakala to slow its course so
his mother Hina could get her Kapa making done. It is where Haleakala got
its name. Haleakala means “The House of the Sun.”
